Georgia College & State University Students Recognized at Annual Meeting of the Georgia Academy of Science

Georgia College & State University hosted the 100th Annual Meeting of the Georgia Academy of Science March 3-4. Nearly 250 attendees from over 20 state colleges and universities enjoyed approximately 150 oral and poster presentations. Nearly 50 GCSU undergraduates were able to present their research thanks to the generous support of MURACE. Another dozen graduate students from our institution also presented their research. The Academy recognized GCSU students’ research with a number of awards. Morgan Thompson (Dr. Dominic DeSantis mentor) won the Best Graduate Student Oral Presentation in the Biological Sciences. Joseph Pabian & Lauren Ernst-Fortin and Meredith Robertson & Trenholm Fahy (Dr. Laurie Peebles and Dr. Stephanie Jett mentors) won the Best Undergraduate Oral Presentations in Psychological Sciences. John Powers (Dr. Dominic DeSantis mentor) won Best Undergraduate Poster in Biological Sciences. Lucy Beck (Dr. Al Mead mentor) won Best Graduate Poster in Earth Sciences. Heather Vincent (Dr. Kasey Karen mentor) won Best Undergraduate Poster in Biomedical Sciences and Jinha Kim & Cooper Williams (Dr. Daniel Burt mentor) won Best Undergraduate Poster in Science Education. Congratulations to all for their excellent achievements!
