Contemporary Jazz: GCSU Jazz Band presents concert of modern jazz masterpieces

Thursday and Friday, March 9-10 Dr. Cliff Towner and Georgia College & State University’s Jazz Band will perform a “Contemporary Jazz” concert at 7:30 p.m. March 9-10 in Russell Auditorium. If you like a funky sound, you’ll love the line-up of 10 upbeat compositions from a variety of jazz styles and artists of the last 25 years. Songs like “Sing Sang Sung” by  Gordon Goodwin, “Off the Hook” by Jeff Jarvis and “Liberty City” by Jaco Pastorius will be featured, as well as three compositions by saxophonist Jeff Coffin of Nashville, who was recently nominated for a Grammy Award. This concert will also be livestreamed on the Music Department's Facebook page.  A $5 donation is encouraged.
