Choral Ensembles Concert: "Music of Our Time"

Saturday, April 1 Georgia College & State University’s three choral ensembles will present a combined concert at 7:30 p.m. in First Baptist Church, 330 S. Liberty Street, Milledgeville. “Music of Our Time” will feature the world premiere of David Hamilton’s “Whakarongo Mai!” Hamilton, an award-winning composer from New Zealand, will be in attendance. Another piece, “Oh My Soul,” was composed by Houston County Veteran’s High School student Sam Neary. Other concert pieces are by living composers such as Rollo Dilworth, Ola Gjeilo, Susan LaBarr and Eric Whitacre. Song lyricists include Langston Hughes, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Octavio Paz and Sara Teasdale. The choral conductors are Dr. Jennifer Flory, Dr. Dana Gorzelany-Mostak and Allison Ryder. Choirs will be joined by Dr. Lev Ryabinin and Dr. Hue Jang on piano and other special guests. A $5 donation is encouraged.
