University Historian Dr. Bob Wilson to give lecture and sign new book on GCSU history

Dr. Bob Wilson, professor emeritus of history and university historian for Georgia College & State University will give a lecture and sign copies of his newly-finished book, "History of Georgia College & State University: 125 Years of a Liberal Arts College," at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, in the state dining room at Georgia's Old Governor's Mansion.

There will be a reception and refreshments after his talk.

The 500-page book took Wilson five years to complete. It spans the university's history from 1889 to 2014. The highlight year is 1996, when the university was declared the state's only liberal arts institution under the administration of former university president Dr. Rosemary DePa0lo. She served from 1997 to 2003.

"That was the instrumental change for this college," Wilson said.

The talk and reception are free and open to the public. Copies of Wilson's book are available for $20 at the Mansion gift shop.
