University Historian Dr. Bob Wilson to give lecture and sign new book on GCSU history

Dr. Bob Wilson, professor emeritus of history and university historian for Georgia College & State University, will give a lecture and sign copies of his newly-finished book, "125 Years of Georgia College (1889-2014) The History of Georgia's Public Liberal Arts University," at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, in the state dining room at Georgia's Old Governor's Mansion.

There will be a reception and refreshments after his talk.

This official update to the university's history took Wilson five years to complete. It spans the university's history from 1889 to 2014. The highlight year is 1996, when the university was declared the state's only liberal arts institution under the administration of former university president Dr. Rosemary DePaolo. She served from 1997 to 2003.

"That was the instrumental change for this college," Wilson said.

The talk and reception are free and open to the public. Copies of Wilson's book are available for $20 at the Mansion gift shop.
