Spring 2023 Commencement Ceremonies: May 5-6

Georgia College & State University will hold four commencement ceremonies Friday and Saturday, May 5-6, at Centennial Center.

At 2 p.m. Friday, May 5, there will be a ceremony for 291 undergraduates and graduates of the College of Health Sciences, followed by a 7 p.m. ceremony in the John H. Lounsbury College of Education awarding 327 degrees.

On Saturday, May 6, the J. Whitney Bunting College of Business & Technology will award 376 degrees at 9 a.m., with the College of Arts & Sciences at 2 p.m. awarding 425 undergraduates and graduates.

In total, nearly 1,400 undergraduate and graduate degrees will be awarded. The top five majors for 2022-23 were nursing, management, marketing, psychology and special education. Popular minors were Spanish language and culture, marketing and criminal justice.  

There are 22 valedictorians from across Georgia—six BSN nursing majors, five education majors, two psychology majors, two mass communication majors and two political science majors, as well as majors in biology, exercise science, political science, marketing and criminal justice.

The keynote speakers are:

  • Alumni Dr. Rodriques A. Lambert, ‘02 , a health equity officer in the Division of State and Local Readiness at the Center for Disease Control (CDC), who will address the College of Health Sciences.
  • Amy Jacobs, commissioner for Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL), who will address the College of Education.
  • The Honorable Brad Raffensperger, Georgia Secretary of State, who will speak to the College of Business & Technology.
  • Alumna Brandice Bailey, ’00, vice president and news director for WITI-TV Milwaukee/FOX6, who will address the College of Arts & Sciences.

 

Students speakers are: Nursing major Priya Polanco of Stone Mountain for the College of Health Sciences; elementary education major Madison Pelton of Canton for the College of Education; finance and economics double major Lauren Moskowitz of Marietta for the College of Business & Technology; and alumnus Wesley DeMontigny of Marietta, ’22 in biology, for the College of Arts & Sciences.

Centennial Center is located at 251 S. Clark Street, Milledgeville, GA.
