SeekingĀ discussion facilitators for Fall semester Times Talks, Wednesdays 12:00-12:50 2nd floor Russell Library!
The American Democracy Project at Georgia College requests your support for another semester of engaging weekly facilitated conversations on current events and topics of local and/or global public interest in any discipline or field.
Times Talk is celebrating 18 years as a weekly GCSU campus tradition and a nationally innovative discussion program by providing a space in the GCSU library for interested faculty, staff, students, and community members to gather from noon-12:50 pm every Wednesday to eat pizza and explore a topic chosen by that week's volunteer facilitator who briefly shares their expert insights on the topic, uses a New York Times or other credible news source article for factual background/context, and then prompts participants to share their perspectives, observations, insights, and questions.
Become part of the tradition by volunteering to lead a discussion on any public topic or event of interest to you (current or historical, on any subject). Co-facilitator teams of faculty, staff, and/or students are encouraged. View a two-minute intro video about Times Talk at GCSU, but note topics other than current events are welcomed and encouraged, the beauty of Times Talk is the variety of subjects and topics we get to explore together and there is a wealth of expertise on tap from faculty, staff, and students at our beloved campus.
To volunteer, send your name (and co-facilitators names if any), topic idea (in question format if possible) contact info, any preferred date if you have one (any Wednesday from 12:00-12:50 pm between August 30th and Dec. 6th) to jan.hoffmann@gcsu.edu who publicizes, hosts, and serves as introducer, timekeeper, and moderator for each session. You will be contacted as soon as possible for follow-up. Times Talk facilitation dates are filled on a first come first serve basis.
