Constitution Week Concert:  "Tunes from the Trail"

Monday, Sept. 18 as part of Georgia College & State University’s annual “Constitution Week,” the music department will host a lively production of political campaign music with a lecture at 6 p.m. in Magnolia Ballroom. The concert, “Tunes from the Trail: A program featuring music from U.S. Presidential Campaigns, 1840-1964,” will feature well-known campaign songs like “Tippecanoe and Tyler Too,” “Modern Democracy” and “Hello Lyndon.” The lecture, “Clashing Political Values and American Democracy,” will be presented by Georgia College’s Coverdell Visiting Scholar Dr. George Klay Kieh. Trax on the Trail—a website co-founded by faculty member Dr. Dana Gorzelany-Mostak—is hosting the concert along with  the university’s Constitution Week Committee. Student performers include the Max Noah Singers under direction of Dr. Jennifer Flory. Pianist Dr. Lev Ryabinin and guitarist Dr. Craig Callender will accompany the group. This concert will also be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/GCMusicDepartment. A $5 donation is encouraged.
