GCSU showcases STEM at local elementary school's NASA Day

Georgia College & State University faculty, staff and students led STEM education stations for NASA STEM Day at Dames Ferry Elementary Sept. 7.

GCSU was there as part of a NASA Education Downlink, where Dames Ferry students and teachers watched live as International Space Station astronauts answered their recorded questions about space and life as an astronaut.

Dr. Catrena Lisse, director of the Science Education Center and professor of chemistry, Ruth Eilers, director of Academic Outreach, and Dr. Donovan Domingue, professor of physics and astronomy, led three stations for students alongside GCSU student volunteers.

Their stations taught STEM lessons on moons, infrared light, meteorites and gems, and the planets inside a mobile planetarium.
