Congratulations Dr. Craig Pascoe!

Professor Craig Pascoe of the History & Geography Department has been appointed to the Georgia National Register Review Board of the National Register of Historic Places. The National Register of Historic Places is the nation’s official list of historic properties that are worthy of preservation. Properties listed in the National Register include buildings, sites, structures, objects and districts that are significant in American history, architecture, archaeology, engineering and culture. The National Register of Historic Places is managed at the federal level by the National Park Service but each state has their own agency administering the National Register of Historic Places. In Georgia, the National Register of Historic Places program is administered by the Historic Preservation Division (HPD) of the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO). The review board is comprised of “a body whose members represent the professional fields of American history, architectural history, historic architecture, prehistoric and historic archaeology and other professional disciplines and may include citizen members.” The Georgia Review Board is responsible for reviewing and commenting on the National Register eligibility of all propose National Register nominations before they are submitted by the Georgia Historic Preservation Division to the National Park Service.
