Faculty recital: "Wandering Hearts," featuring Bryan Hall, violin and Owen Lovell, piano

Thursday, Oct. 5, music faculty Bryan Emmon Hall and Owen Lovell will perform on violin and piano for “Wandering Hearts,” a romantic recital at 7:30 p.m. in Max Noah Recital Hall. The title is also the name of a piece written by faculty David H. Johnson that will be featured, along with another composition by Cèsar Franck written as a wedding gift. Gypsy idioms in music will liven the program in the music of Johnson and Eugene Ysaÿe. Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s “Much Ado About Nothing” will start the program as a musical evocation of William Shakespeare’s comedic romance play by the same name. This concert will also be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/GCMusicDepartment. A $5 donation is encouraged. All proceeds benefit music scholarships or the GC Department of Music through GCSU Foundation, Inc. For more information, please email music@gcsu.edu or call 478-445-8289.
