GCSU Orchestra Concert "Virtuosity," with Guest Artist Calin Lupanu (concertmaster of Charlotte Symphony Orchestra)
Tuesday, Oct. 24, the Georgia College & State University Orchestra will hold its concert, “Virtuosity,” at 7:30 p.m. in Russell Auditorium. This fun and peppy program features the first violin concerto Felix Mendelssohn wrote when he was only 13 years old. Guest artist and violinist Calin Lupanu will perform this challenging piece. Lupanu is concertmaster of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. About 20 students will join him on violin, viola, cello and bass. Other selections include Sergei Rachmaninoff’s “Symphony No. 2 in E minor, Op. 27” and Jonathan Cain’s “Open Arms.” This concert will also be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/GCMusicDepartment.
