MLK Day of Service: Volunteer opportunities

Join us this MLK Day, as we come together to build a beloved community through unity, service and transformation. Honor Dr. King's legacy by volunteering in your community and helping our local non-profits make our home a beloved place. 

There are three organizations hosting volunteer events from Saturday, Jan. 13 through Monday, Jan. 15.

Comfort Farms: Le Pie Du Mont Boucherie Festival: Register to Volunteer Here.

  • Saturday, Jan. 13 9 a.m. - noon
  • Le Pied Du Mont Boucherie Festival, serves as a fundraiser and educational gathering of butchers, chefs, farmers and veterans coming together to celebrate the start of the growing season. Most importantly, they aim to support the STAG VETS INC Agro-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy program to help combat veterans transition effectively into civilian life on our facility Comfort Farms, the nation’s first Veterans Acute Crisis Agriculture Center.

 

Central State: Recycling Art Project. Register to Volunteer Here

  • Saturday, Jan. 13 9 a.m. - noon
  • Volunteers will help to create an art project with recycled materials (indoors). DBHDD provides state of the art multi-disciplinary services including psychiatric evaluation, treatment and recovery services for persons referred from the state’s criminal justice and corrections systems.

 

Oconee River Greenway Weed Wrangle with Georgia Native Plant Society. Register to Volunteer Here

  • Monday, Jan. 15 10 a.m. - noon
  • Help us remove invasive non-native plants from the Oconee River Greenway. The Georgia Native Plant Society mission is to promote stewardship and conservation of Georgia’s native plants and their habitats.
