High demand alert: Electricity usage for Jan. 17

Georgia Power has issued an alert for Wednesday, Jan. 17, as extremely cold temperatures have triggered high demand across the regional power grid resulting in exceptionally high peak-hour pricing, particularly during morning hours of 7 a.m. through noon.

The campus community is asked to consider shutting down non-essential lighting and unplugging non-essential equipment during this peak-hour period.  If you have access to windows, use natural light.  Turn lights off when you leave your office or classroom.  Avoid using portable heaters and shut off unnecessary appliances.

The Office of Sustainability and Facilities Management thanks everyone for your cooperation and understanding.
