High Demand Alert: Electricity usage for Thursday, Jan. 18

Georgia Power has issued an alert for Thursday, Jan. 18, as cold temperatures and high demand persist across the regional power grid. While projected peak-hour pricing has retreated from prior day-ahead rate, it will remain elevated during the morning hours of 7 a.m. through 12 p.m.

The campus community is asked to consider shutting down non-essential lighting and unplug non-essential equipment during this peak period Thursday morning. If you have access to windows, please use natural light. Turn lights off when you leave your office or classroom. Avoid using portable heaters and shut off unnecessary appliances.

The Office of Sustainability and Facilities Management thanks everyone for your cooperation and understanding.
