Mock Trial Team Defeats Four Teams at Competition
On Jan. 20-21, 2024, the Mock Trial Team, housed in the Department of Government and Sociology, competed in the Third Annual Queen's City Classic Invitational at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. The team, consisting of Stelios Spirou, Hanna Holcomb, Matthew Ross, Montana Arnold, Riley Kate Miller, Derek Kim, Grace King, Mack Deaver and Drake Wood defeated Boston College, the University of Richmond, High Point University and Austin College and received Honorable Mention as an Outstanding Trial Team.
Additionally, Stelios Spirou received an outstanding attorney award (his second of the season), which is given to the top eight of approximately 54 attorneys, and Montana Arnold received an Outstanding Witness Award, which is given to the top eight of approximately 65 witnesses. The team, which is coached by Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice Adam Lamparello, will compete at the Amercian Mock Trial Association's regional tournament in Spartanburg, South Carolina on Feb. 24-25.
