Biology students sweep presentation awards at Wildlife Society Meeting

On Feb. 22, 2024, seven Georgia College & State University biology students and Dominic DeSantis attended the annual meeting of the Georgia Chapter of The Wildlife Society at the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega. Undergraduate student attendees were Amber Stubbs, Danielle Bartlett and Ziv Moench. Biology graduate student attendees were Jack Powers, Elizabeth Noble, Mathew Gordon and Ashley McMahon. All seven students, from the research labs of DeSantis and Katie Stumpf, delivered oral or poster presentations at the meeting. Amber Stubbs received the Best Undergraduate Poster Presentation Award, and Ashley McMahon received the Best Graduate Poster Presentation Award. Elizabeth Noble and Ashley McMahon both received student travel awards.

Additionally, during a live auction held at the meeting's social event to raise funds for future student travel awards, a guided trip to the DeSantis Lab's rattlesnake ecology field site raised $150.
