OIE seeking nominations for GCSU Inclusive Excellence Awards

The Office of Inclusive Excellence is pleased to announce its request for nominations for the Georgia College & State University Inclusive Excellence Award.

 

Georgia College & State University Inclusive Excellence Award honors the cumulative contributions of faculty and staff members to advance diversity and inclusion at GCSU through an exemplary commitment to diversity and inclusion through leadership, recruitment and retention efforts, teaching, research, multi-cultural programming, cultural competency, community outreach activities or other initiatives.



Eligibility:

Success in leading and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts can be demonstrated in many ways. Nominations should be based on demonstrated leadership in one or more of the following areas:

• Activities to recruit, retain, and professionally develop individuals who increase the diversity of our faculty and staff.
• Activities to attract or recruit students who increase the diversity of our University or to help ensure the successful retention and graduation of those students.
• Activities to create organizations that promote a diverse, equitable and inclusive campus environment.
• Sponsorship or active promotion of programs, initiatives, or projects that advance diversity, equity and inclusion.
• Collaboration with campus or community groups in the creation, sponsorship, and implementation of programs, initiatives, or projects in the area of diversity, equity and inclusion.
• Recognition and celebration of exemplary individual and/or team behaviors that promote diversity, equity and inclusion.  

Selection Criteria:

Nominees should be current faculty, staff or administrators at Georgia College & State University. Nominations can be submitted by individual employees (including supervisors, direct reports and peers of the nominees), students, university organizations, employee networks or diversity leadership teams.   



Applications will be judged on the following criteria:

• Demonstration of emerging or sustained commitment to the values of diversity, inclusion and multiculturalism by documented efforts that are above and beyond the routine expectations of the job or project.
• Evidence of exceptional efforts to promote a University environment that is free from bias and discrimination.
• Substantiation of the contribution that the individual, team, or unit has made toward advancing diversity, inclusion and inclusive excellence.

Two awards will be given; one for faculty and one for staff. Award recipients will be honored during the Celebration of Excellence ceremony in April.

The deadline to submit nominations is Wednesday, March 22, 2024, by 5 p.m.
