Research Day 2024: Program and Schedule Available

Dear Student Research Day Scholars and Mentors:

We have more than 500 participants in the GCSU Research Day 2024!

We hope you will attend many of the sessions we have prepared comprised of undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty from across the university.

In addition to attending Wednesday's Research Day events, we encourage to support the Women's Gender Studies Symposium from 9 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, in the Museum Education Room.

Here are some tips to help you get organized and plan for Research Day, Wednesday, March 27:

The full Research Day 2024 schedule can be found here: https://kb.gcsu.edu/researchday/2024/all/. No paper copies will be available. An overview of the schedule is attached to this email.

A Wellness Picnic featuring burrito bowls will be held from Noon to 1 p.m. on Front Campus. Tickets are required, and they can be retrieved at Research Day Check-In.

Research Day Check-In Details:

  • Early-bird check-in will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, in the Library Atrium

  • Day-of check-in will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, in the Library Atrium.

Presenters will be excused from their classes on Wednesday from 8 a.m.. to 5 p.m.; the Provost's-approved absence form and the presenter list are attached. Students need to distribute this excuse form to their faculty.

President Cathy Cox will welcome everyone at 9 a.m. in Magnolia Ballroom. All are welcome to attend.

Poster session presenters, please download the attached PDF of Poster Presenters for your designated poster session – (you have been given either the 9 to 9:50 a.m. session slot or the 10 to 10:50 a.m. session slot). On Research Day, please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your session's start time. When you arrive to the Magnolia Ballroom, please check-in at the front table to learn your poster wall location number. Push pins will be provided for poster presentations. Make sure your poster is no larger than 48". No more than two presenters should stand at your poster at a time.

Performance/Panel/Oral session presenters, please download the attached PDF of Research Day Performance Panel Oral Presentation Overview for your designated session time – the formal program only provides you with your presentation time within the designated session, which can be confusing. Plan to arrive to your session location 10 minutes prior to the hour of your session to help set up and introduce yourself to the session moderator assigned to your session. If you have a digital presentation (e.g. PowerPoint) to share via screen, you are encouraged to upload it to a flash drive and bring the flash drive to your session to download to session computer.

If you see something regarding your presentation that needs to be changed (e.g. presenting simultaneously in two locations), please email Christina Smith at christina.smith1@gcsu.edu by 12 p.m. Tuesday, March 26. DO NOT REPLY ALL, PLEASE!

Mentors, please discuss with your mentees the Research Day schedule in case students did not receive the information via this email.

Additionally, the Research Day website offers resources to help you prepare for your presentations: https://www.gcsu.edu/murace/research-day.

We look forward to seeing all of the incredible works at this year's Research Day, March 27.
