STAR Ally Workshop - April 12, 2024

STAR Ally Workshop - April 12, 2024

LGBTQ+ Programs will be offering S.T.A.R. Ally Workshop on Friday, April 12, from 2-5:30 p.m. Please register at this link.

The S.T.A.R. Ally (support, teach, affirm, respect; GCSU's version of Safe Space) program advances one of Georgia College & State University's guiding principles of "instilling respect for human diversity and individuality" by affirming people of all sexual and gender identities and lessening the prejudice that limits the university experience and well-being of LGBTQ+ identified students, faculty, staff, facility members and administrators.

The overarching goals of the S.T.A.R. Ally workshop are to increase participants' awareness and knowledge of LGBTQ+ people's identities and experiences and provide the skills to be an ally for the LGBTQ+ community at GCSU and beyond.

Please note: These workshops will be held in person, and their location will be communicated following registration. S.T.A.R. Ally cannot be made mandatory for any individual or group and is an opt-in program only. If you are interested in having your organization or group go through S.T.A.R. Ally, don't hesitate to contact LGBTQ+ Programs to discuss your needs.

Additionally, individuals who identify as LGBTQ+ are welcome and invited to attend S.T.A.R. Ally, however, some of the activities and content covered may be challenging for members of the LGBTQ+ community, especially those who have had negative experiences related to their identity previously. Please reach out to melissa.gerrior@gcsu.edu if you have further questions or concerns.
