Milledgeville Main Street Presents: Hometown Celebration Event on May 3
Milledgeville, Georgia - April 19, 2024 - Milledgeville Main Street is thrilled to announce the much-anticipated Hometown Celebration event, set to take place on May 3, from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the heart of Downtown Milledgeville.
This exciting event promises an unforgettable evening filled with entertainment, local flair and community spirit. Residents and visitors alike are invited to join in the festivities and experience the vibrant atmosphere of Milledgeville.
Attendees can look forward to a variety of activities and attractions, including:
- Live music: Groove to the rhythm of two great bands as they take the stage to showcase their talent and entertain the crowd. Nu South Playaz will kick off the evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. followed by community groups performing from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Highway 49 closing out the night from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.
- Artisan Market: Explore a diverse array of handcrafted goods and unique creations from local artisans and craftsmen.
- Delicious food and drinks: Indulge in a culinary adventure with a mouthwatering selection from local eateries offering delectable dishes and refreshing beverages.
- Family Fun Zone: Bring the whole family and enjoy a range of kid-friendly activities, games and entertainment. The Junior Board of Directors will host engaging projects for community members, including a lock gate, owl painting, and rock decorating.
- The GCSU Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences will host activities about the Cicada swarm.

The Hometown Celebration event serves as a testament to the vibrant spirit and rich cultural heritage of Milledgeville. This event started in 2014 as a community celebration for winning the national title of a Great American Main Street City by the Main Street America organization. This award is given to communities whose success serves as a model for comprehensive, preservation-based revitalization efforts in their historic downtowns and commercial corridor districts. The event is an opportunity for individuals of all ages to come together, celebrate and create lasting memories.
