Dr. Dan Nadler appointed as vice president for Student Life
Dr. Dan Nadler has accepted a direct appointment as Georgia College & State University's vice president for Student Life effective July 1, 2024.
"Serving in an interim role since September 2022, Dr. Nadler has done an exemplary job guiding the Division of Student Life, as well as being a valued member of Executive Cabinet and the greater campus community," said GCSU President Cathy Cox.
The Division of Student Life includes Residence Life, University Housing, Student Inclusion and Belonging Programs and Services, Student Engagement, Community Engagement and Service, Wellness and Recreation, Student Health Services, Counseling Services, Student Conduct, Student Care and Outreach, the Student Disability Resource Center, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Parent and Family Programs, the Outdoor Center, and the primary leadership of GCSU’s new QEP, "Bobcats First." Each of these areas serve pivotal roles in our campus culture, having significant impact on student development, retention rates and the overall well-being and success of Georgia College students.
"In his interim role, Dr. Nadler marshalled a reimagining of the Division of Student Life, creating a division that reinforces a focus on student success and better alignment with GCSU’s strategic plan," Cox said. "He also played a key role in bringing in the largest class of first-year students in school history in fall 2023. Intramural Sports has continued its growth under his watch, including a huge point of pride for Georgia College: the back-to-back Flag Football National Champions. Dr. Nadler also knows the impact that a strong campus culture can bring, as he has continued to challenge GCSU students to increase their service and volunteerism to the local community."
Nadler came to Georgia College after similar interim appointments at West Virginia State University and St. Thomas University in Florida. Prior to helping bridge the gap for universities like these and GCSU, he had a long-standing career focused on student engagement and success and owns over 35 years of higher education experience including vice president roles at Northern Kentucky University and Eastern Illinois University, as well as serving as associate vice president for Student Affairs at Tulane University.
Nadler earned a B.S. in liberal studies, an M.S. in speech communication and a Ph.D. in higher education from Southern Illinois University.
"I am thrilled that Georgia College & State University will continue to benefit from Dr. Nadler’s passion and deep experience in student life," Cox said. "Please join me in congratulating Dan and welcoming him – permanently – to the Bobcat family!"
