Studio Recital: Old & New Works for Prepared Piano

Sunday, Sept. 29 “Old and New Works for Prepared Piano” is the theme of Georgia College & State University’s studio recital at 3 p.m. in Magnolia Ballroom at the Student Activities Center. Piano majors, music minors and other GCSU students will perform short compositions, about 3 minutes each. The recital features work by experimental composer John Cage and others for prepared piano. By ‘preparing’ pianos with things like nuts, bolts, screws, rubber and plastic, the sound can be completely transformed. This concert will also be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/GCMusicDepartment. A $5 donation is encouraged. Online donations can be made at give.gcsu.edu/g/department-of-music/. All proceeds benefit music scholarships or the GCSU Department of Music through GCSU Foundation, Inc.
