Orchestra Concert: "Bohemian To Baroque"

Tuesday, Oct. 22 Harpsichord player Zheng Jennifer Huang guest stars in Georgia College & State University’s 7:30 p.m. “Bohemian to Baroque” concert with the GCSU Orchestra in Russell Auditorium. A harpsichord is a keyboard instrument similar to a piano. Its strings produce sound through vibrations created by plucking. Huang heads the department of fine arts at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia. She will give a fiery performance of Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Concerto in D Minor.” Other selections for this evening of string repertoire include Antonín Dvořák’s “Serenade for Strings in E Major, Op. 22” and Antonio Vivaldi’s “Concerto Alla Rustica for orchestra in G major.” Twenty six orchestra students will perform violins, violas, cellos and bass, conducted by GCSU Music faculty Bryan Hall. This concert will also be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/GCMusicDepartment. A $5 donation is encouraged. Online donations can be made at give.gcsu.edu/g/department-of-music/. All proceeds benefit music scholarships or the GCSU Department of Music through GCSU Foundation, Inc.
