Student Success and Retention Series: Student Success for Generation Z

Student Success and Retention Series: Student Success for Generation Z

Workshop Overview:

This workshop dives into the unique dynamics that shape the student success journey for Generation Z. As digital natives with distinct values, learning styles, and expectations, Gen Z requires new approaches to engagement and support in academic settings. Participants will explore the nuances of Gen Z's transition from high school to college, their use of technology, and the evolving educational landscape. The session will highlight how to effectively address their learning preferences, short attention spans, and desire for multimedia-rich, real-world learning experiences.

Through interactive discussions, attendees will gain insights into building connection-based learning environments, fostering motivation, and addressing the mental health and social concerns that influence Gen Z's academic success. The workshop will also explore the importance of community engagement and work-based learning (WBL) in retaining Gen Z students. In addition, we will discuss strategies for employer engagement, ensuring Gen Z students are equipped with the skills and opportunities needed for successful transitions into the workforce.
