Campus-Wide Shred Event: Clean out a file cabinet, a closet or an entire room!
Campus-Wide Shred Event: Clean out a file cabinet, a closet or an entire room!
The Office of Internal Audit and Advisory Services is sponsoring a shred event on Thursday, Nov. 7, in connection with Ethics Awareness Week. All staff and faculty are encouraged to clean out their files responsibly. The USG Records Retention policy ensures that sensitive and essential GCSU records are properly handled, stored, and disposed of.
Official Shred Cycle bins are available now around campus to receive documents. Departments whose material exceeds the bin capacity can temporarily store their records with Special Collections to await shredding.
Take this opportunity to clean out a drawer, a file cabinet, a closet or even an entire room! It’s just as important to know what to keep as it is to know what not to keep.
Refer to this list to find the liaison in your department who can help with any questions such as:
- What am I required to keep, destroy, or archive?
- Where are the Shred Cycle bins located?
- How can I digitize my files?
- What forms do I need to properly label my files or dispose of them?
- How do I send my boxes to Special Collections?
- Where should I store my old files?
- Can I recycle my files instead of shredding them?
