Music students shine at the Georgia National Association of Teachers of Singing audition at Berry College

Between Nov. 1 and 2 at Berry College, 11 voice students competed against other voice majors from colleges and universities across Georgia. Dr. Hue Jang and Dr. Lev Ryabinin accompanied students for auditions during both days. Students of Dr. Youngmi Kim, Dr. Christopher Hendley and Camilla Packroff performed beautifully and gave their best.

Among them, Anna Ogletree (senior in music therapy) won the Musical Theatre category again this year and performed at the winners' recital. Gabrielle Van Patten (sophomore in music and psychology), competing for the first time, placed first in one of three rooms in the Classical category. Riley Greer (senior in music), who also placed last year, earned second place in one of two rooms in the Classical category this year. Kaylah Sherow (junior in music therapy) placed third in one of two rooms in the Musical Theatre category and Joey Johnson (junior in music) took third place in the Classical category.

Other students participating for the first time, including Hailey Byers (junior in music therapy), Ori Young (sophomore in music), Christopher Dolan (sophomore in music), Ana Nives-Concepcion (freshman in music therapy), Ian Purdy (sophomore in music therapy) and Peyton Curry (sophomore in music) also gave successful auditions.

Overall, this year's competition was an enriching and rewarding experience for all our voice students. Their dedication, talent and hard work were evident in their performances, and we are incredibly proud of their achievements. We look forward to seeing their continued growth and success in the years to come.
