G eorgia College & State University is entering the final stages of construction on a new music building located on the corner of Wayne and Montgomery Streets, in Milledgeville, Georgia. The 10,400-square-foot building will serve as the Department of Music’s new dedicated rehearsal space.

“We’re very grateful for the university being able to do this, as it allows us to be able to do so much more that will be beneficial to the students,” Dr. Don Parker, department chair, said.

The new building will offer ample rehearsal room with all the features music students need to develop their professional skills, including acoustically designed practice spaces that are separated to accommodate different groups, such as choral ensembles, orchestra and percussion.

Parker, himself a percussionist, admits, “Percussionists make a lot of sound!”

The new building also features storage for instruments and equipment, plus social spaces for students.

The building is scheduled to open in late spring 2025.
