"Some Interesting Numbers Around Us" - Mini Math Talk - Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 5 p.m.

Please join the Department of Mathematics for a Mini Math Talk, "Some Interesting Numbers Around Us" given by Dr. Guy Biyogmam on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 5 - 5:30 p.m. in A&S 138. Mini math talks are 20-30 minute presentations about any topic related to math. No math background is required, and all are welcome! Snacks will be provided.

Here is the abstract of the presentation:

Numbers are probably the most important tools of our daily lives. Though one may not tell which ones are the most important, it is clear to most mathematicians that some of them are more "interesting than others," due to their history, how they link to various amazing mathematical facts or their mysterious connection with nature. In this talk, we will review some of these numbers, with a particular attention to one of the most interesting classes of numbers: The Fibonacci numbers. This talk will be accessible to all undergraduate students.
