Spring documentary series

Join us for an engaging spring documentary series that explores pressing social issues and celebrates human resilience through three thought-provoking films.

Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 6:15 p.m. : "Counted Out," a powerful examination of how mathematical literacy shapes social and economic opportunity in our society. This timely documentary shows what's at risk if we keep the status quo and what's possible if we use math in service of a healthy future for all of us.

Tuesday, March 4, at 5:30 p.m.: "The Cost of Caring," an urgent documentary addressing the alarming rise in suicide rates among veterinarians. This vital film not only sheds light on a hidden crisis but also offers hope and solutions for supporting these essential healthcare professionals. Following the film, we will host a panel to hear from the filmmaker, Marie Barnas, a veterinarian, Dr. Mike Chapman and Georgia College & State University students.

Wednesday, April 16, at 6 p.m.: "View Finders," taking viewers on a breathtaking journey through stunning landscapes while celebrating the art of photography and outdoor exploration. Following the show, we will host a session with the filmmaker, Chris Greer.

All screenings will be held in the A&S Auditorium and are free to attend.

This series comes to life through campus-wide teamwork, with support from the College of Arts & Sciences, Department of Math, Department of Sociology, College of Education, Student Life, the Provost's Office and the School of Continuing & Professional Studies. Together, we're creating space for important conversations through film.
