Volunteer sign up for NMDP Bone Marrow Drive
Tri Beta (the Biological Honor Society) is excited to partner with the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP), formerly known as Be the Match, for an upcoming bone marrow donor registration drive, and we need your help to make it a success!
We’re looking for volunteers to join us at various tabling stations across campus during our two-day event. Tabling will take place on April 1-2 from 10am- 4pm. Volunteers will assist in registering people for the national bone marrow donor database by collecting cheek swabs—helping to save lives with just a few minutes of their time!
Here’s how you can help:
- Sign up for shifts to assist at the tables across campus. No prior experience is necessary! https://givepul.se/9x514g
- We just ask that you watch a recorded training session video in advance to get familiar with NMDP’s mission and talking points. However, we can do on-the-spot training if necessary
Not only do we need volunteers, but we also need people willing to get swabbed and be entered into the database! If you're unable to volunteer to table, please consider taking a couple minutes to get swabbed at one of our 4 convenient locations: front campus, MAX walkway, Donahoo Lounge (at the blood drive), and outside of the Health Science Building. This event is not limited to college students - anyone aged 18-40 can come and get swabbed!
Your participation makes a real difference in connecting patients with the life-saving bone marrow transplants they need. Please consider giving us some of your time so we can help give someone a lifetime.
If you would like more information, please feel free to reach out to Dr. Kasey Karen (kasey.karen@gcsu.edu), or go on their website at https://www.nmdp.org!
