Executive Order by the Governor
On Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, 2025, Americans will once again join together in honoring the brave men and women who served this great nation and made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom. As proud Americans, we reflect on and value the courage of our fellow Georgians and countrymen who represent the highest ideals of our nation as they carry our flag into battle, knowing they may never return; and
On this Memorial Day, Georgians again honor and mourn the loss of two Georgia National Guard soldiers, Specialist Travis Jordan Pameni of Douglasville, Georgia, and Specialist Owen James of Twin City, Georgia, as well as U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Ryan Austin O'Hara of Lilburn, Georgia; and
This day marks the time of year where we mourn the fallen and count our blessings. This country would be nothing without those who gave their lives to preserve liberty. Because of them, we are blessed to live in a free country where the American dream is real-where our families can live, grow, and prosper-all because of our soldiers' willingness to put country above self. For their acts of valor, we owe a debt that can never be repaid. ...
That on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, 2025, in accordance with 4 U.S.C. ยง 7, the flag of the United States of America and the flag of the great State of Georgia shall be flown at half-staff on all state buildings and grounds until noon and then raised to the top of the staff.
