Longtime Academic Leader Dr. Faye McIntyre Named Interim COBT Dean

Accomplished researcher, fundraiser and higher education veteran Dr. Faye McIntyre has accepted the position of interim dean of Georgia College & State University’s J. Whitney Bunting College of Business & Technology. She will assume her role on Aug. 1, 2025, while a national search for a full-time dean of the college continues.

From 2004-2021, McIntyre served as dean of Richards College of Business at the University of West Georgia. There, she managed operations for the 2,300-student college as well as a budget of over $14.3 million. She was also a successful fundraiser for the school, raising more than $6.9 million in private funds for design and construction of a new business building.

“Dr. McIntyre brings over 35 years of higher education experience, including AACSB accreditation expertise and a strong ability to engage with external partners,” said Dr. Holley Roberts, interim provost and vice president for Academic Affairs. “Her leadership will be key in advancing the Bunting College of Business & Technology as a top destination for experiential learning, preparing students to lead and thrive in the future of business.”

Having attained her MBA from the University of West Georgia, McIntyre went on to earn her Ph.D. in Business Administration in 1990 from the University of Georgia and has led classes as a professor of marketing continually since 1988. As a researcher, she has published dozens of journal articles, including one last year that won the 2024 Business Case Journal Best Publication Award.

Additionally, from 2012-2021, she served as lead dean of the Georgia WebMBA, a consortium of seven University System of Georgia institutions that designed curriculum and standards for business-focused virtual learning programs in the state.

“The faculty, staff and students of the College of Business & Technology are well positioned for a bright future, and I am excited to join such a dynamic group as they build on a strong foundation and prepare for their next dean,” said McIntyre. “This is an exciting time in the life of the college, and I am proud to be part of this next chapter.”

McIntyre will serve in the role until the national search for a full-time dean of the J. Whitney Bunting College of Business & Technology has concluded.
