Research practicum opportunity: Join the Rural Studies Institute
The Rural Studies Institute at Georgia College & State University is seeking students for our 2025-2026 research practicum to support impactful projects that address issues, opportunities and innovations in the rural South. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain meaningful research, data analysis and community engagement experience while contributing to work that makes a real difference. The Research Practicum will include 3-hour course credit.
Research practicum responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with research and data collection (e.g., U.S. Census and community-based data).
- Supporting the development of databases and visualization tools.
- Participating in community outreach and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Helping prepare presentations, reports and social media content.
- Contributing to special projects that highlight rural communities’ assets and challenges.

Who should apply:
We welcome undergraduate and graduate students from all majors who are curious, self-motivated and passionate about rural issues. Skills in research, writing, data analysis or digital tools are a plus, but enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are just as important.
