On September 11, 2001, our nation was forever marked by tragedy when nearly three thousand men, women, and children were murdered as a result of terrorist acts; and

On the anniversary of this event, we honor those who perished by reflecting on their lives and the patriotism and passion that drove their sacrifice; and

We remember the brave men and women of our Armed Forces stationed around the globe, for their vigilance in protecting our nation from future acts of terror; and

To memorialize this day in our nation's history, the Congress of the United States passed joint resolution 36 U.S.C. ยง 144 on December 18, 2001, which designates the 11th day of September as "Patriot Day."

Now, THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY

That the State of Georgia recognize Thursday, September 11, 2025, as Patriot Day by flying the flag of the United States of America and the flag of the State of Georgia at half-staff on all state buildings and grounds.

IT IS FURTHER

That all Georgians shall observe a moment of silence at 8:46 AM EDT on September 11, 2025, to honor the lives lost twenty-four years ago.
