Mini Math Talk: "A Hidden Pattern in the Co-Primes" by Jonas Barfield - 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept 30, A&S 364
Please join the Department of Mathematics for a Mini Math Talk, "A Hidden Pattern in the Co-Primes: A Journey Through an open Erdös Problem" given by Georgia College & State University student Jonas Barfield about his original research on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 5 - 5:30 p.m, in A&S 364. Mini math talks are 20-30-minute presentations about any topic related to math. All are welcome! Snacks will be provided.
Here is an abstract of the talk:
This presentation will delve into a fascinating open Erdös Problem about the existence of natural number solutions to a certain equation. We will show that a solution does indeed exist. However, in exploring whether this solution is unique, we uncover an intriguing pattern among the co-primes. This presentation will feature beautiful plots and reveal unexpected phenomena that invite deeper investigation. Join us as we navigate through these mathematical curiosities and uncover the hidden structures within.
