Bringing new ideas home: GCSU Staff Council Leadership at the USG Conference

Staff Council Chair Kimberly Scott, Past Chair Nancy Finney, and Chair-Elect Kelly Prior represented Georgia College & State University at the 2025 University System of Georgia Staff Council Conference, hosted by Valdosta State University Sept. 30 - Oct. 1. The event brought together staff leaders from across the system for two days of professional development, networking and collaboration.

Chancellor Sonny Perdue delivered keynote remarks emphasizing the importance of teamwork, innovation and adaptability within higher education. He also asked the staff about their concerns regarding higher education in the current political environment. Attendees participated in a series of impactful sessions, including Re-ignite Your Passion with Grit and Perseverance led by Wendy Byrd, Transformational Experiences: Radically Re-envisioning the University for the Future with Dr. Anne Price and Rooted and Rising: Rediscovering Your Why facilitated by Rosalyn Martinez. The conference concluded with inspiring presentations from Dr. Gerald Williams and Dean James LaPlant, who explored energizing leadership, reimagining learning and guiding higher education through times of change.

Your Staff Council representatives left the conference inspired by the ideas shared and are eager to bring these insights back to Georgia College to enhance staff engagement, strengthen collaboration and continue advancing our mission of excellence in higher education.
