Connect with First-Gen Mentors and Allies — Join I Was First Too: Connections!
A first-generation college student is one whose parent(s) or guardian(s) did not attend or graduate from college, OR did not complete a four-year degree.
Are you a first-generation college student looking to connect with someone who’s been in your shoes?
The Office of Inclusion & Belonging is excited to invite you to join “I Was First Too: Connections” — a meet-n-greet opportunity to connect with first-generation faculty and staff, as well as allies who understand your journey and want to help you succeed and thrive at GCSU. It will be held on Thursday, November 6, from 5:00-6:30 p.m. in the Willow Room of the Magnolia Center. Light refreshments will be served.
At the meet-n-greet, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Meet GCSU professionals who were the first in their families to go to college
- Build community and belonging on campus
- Ask questions, share experiences, and gain advice for academic and personal success
- Learn ways to connect with potential mentors
