Connect with First-Gen Mentors and Allies — Join "I Was First Too: Connections!"
A first-generation college student is one whose parent(s) or guardian(s) did not attend or graduate from college, OR did not complete a four-year degree.
Are you a first-generation college student looking to connect with someone who’s been in your shoes?
The Office of Inclusion & Belonging is excited to invite you to join “I Was First Too: Connections” — a meet 'n' greet opportunity to connect with first-generation faculty and staff, as well as allies who understand your journey and want to help you succeed and thrive at Georgia College & State University. It will be held Thursday, Nov. 6, 5-6:30 p.m. in the Willow Room of the Magnolia Center. Light refreshments will be served.
At the meet 'n' greet, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Meet GCSU professionals who were the first in their families to go to college.
- Build community and belonging on campus.
- Ask questions, share experiences, and gain advice for academic and personal success.
- Learn ways to connect with potential mentors.
