Maintenance event to cause power outage in Chappell and Lanier Halls, Russell Auditorium and possibly campus wide Saturday, Jan. 17, 7 a.m. until noon

Georgia College & State University’s Facilities Management Department will replace the main breaker serving Lanier Hall and Russell Auditorium on Saturday, Jan. 17. This work will require electrical power be interrupted for Chappell Hall, Lanier Hall and Russell Auditorium. It is anticipated that the university’s primary datacenter will remain online and on generator power. However, campus should be aware that unforeseen circumstances could impact the availability of technology services during this event. An interruption of technology services would include the loss of campus internet connectivity, telephone services will be offline, security monitoring and access control systems will be offline, access to all business applications will be temporarily paused and Front Page will be inaccessible.

The outage is planned to begin at 7 a.m. with all services expected to be operational again by noon. Facilities Management has coordinated with all campus departments in preparation of the maintenance project to ensure a smooth deployment.

If you have any questions about the project or its impact, please reach out to Facilities Management Project Manager Mike Eley (mike.eley@gcsu.edu) or Chief Information Officer Brian Watson (brian.watson@gcsu.edu).
