GCSU Monitoring Weekend Winter Weather

Baldwin County, including the Georgia College & State University campus, is under a Winter Storm Warning from the National Weather Service ahead of a cold-weather system expected to impact the area this weekend.

Weather Forecast Forecasters expect winter weather conditions from Saturday morning through Saturday night, including:

  • 2 to 6 inches of snow
  • Temperatures in the teens
  • Wind chills near zero through Monday
  • Heavier snow totals are expected east and northeast of Milledgeville

No power outages are currently anticipated.

Campus Closures and Changes

  • All university-sponsored in-person events Saturday: canceled
  • All athletic games Saturday and Sunday: canceled
  • Historic museums (Andalusia, Old Governor's Mansion, Sallie Ellis Davis House): closed Saturday and Sunday
  • Barnes & Noble: closed Saturday and Sunday
  • Library: card reader access only, 10 a.m. Saturday to 7:30 a.m. Monday
  • Wellness & Recreation Center: closed Saturday (Sunday hours TBA)

Dining Services

The MAX mealtimes:

  • Brunch: 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
  • Dinner: 5-7 p.m. Saturday, 5-8 p.m. Sunday

Other dining:

  • Chick-fil-A and Ibasho Sushi: closed Saturday and Sunday
  •  Pizza Hut: closed Sunday

If roads become inaccessible, The MAX will remain open for Main Campus with boxed meals provided to West Campus.

Shuttle Service

  • West Campus to The MAX shuttles will run as long as road conditions allow (check PassioGo app for updates)
  • Special supply run to shopping areas: Friday, 1-6 p.m.
  • No late-night shuttle service Saturday night


Monday Operations: Depending on road conditions, the university may move to modified operations Monday, Feb. 2. All faculty and staff should take laptops home this weekend to maintain operational continuity.

  • A follow-up message will be issued Sunday afternoon regarding next week's schedule.

Safety Reminders Extended freezing temperatures may threaten pipes in older buildings. Off-campus students should contact landlords about precautions such as running faucets to prevent burst pipes.

Students should stay indoors and off roadways whenever possible.
