"My Dating Network" - A Mini Math Talk by MaKayla McLeod
Please join the Department of Mathematics on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 5 p.m. in A&S 243, for a Mini Math Talk given by MaKayla McLeod, titled: "My Dating Network: An Amateur Mathematical Analysis of Romantic Connections."
Abstract: Networks are complex systems in everyday life. Everyone has networks in their life. Some are more interesting than others, due to their structure, dynamics and unexpected patterns. In this talk, we will review basic concepts from network theory and focus on one of the most personally compelling examples: My dating network. Through this case study, we will illustrate key ideas such as centrality, community detection and connectivity and show how math is everywhere.
Mini Math Talks are 20-30 minute presentations about anything related to math. All are welcome to attend! No math background is needed for this presentation.
Snacks will be provided!
