Mini Math Talk - "Twenty is Cooler: The Numeral System Built by Middle Schoolers" with Dr. Brandon Samples, March 23

Join us Monday, March 23, at 5 p.m. in A&S, room 243 as Dr. Brandon Samples gives a short mathematics talk exploring the fascinating Kaktovik numeral system, a base-20 system developed by middle school students in Kaktovik, Alaska. The talk will introduce the origins of the system, explain how the numerals work and highlight why this student-invented system is both elegant and mathematically powerful.

Mini Math Talks are 20-30 minute presentations about anything related to math, given by Georgia College & State University faculty and students. All are welcome to attend! No prior math background is necessary.

Snacks will be provided.
