World Cultures Fest
The Department of World Languages & Cultures invites you to stop by Peabody Auditorium on Tuesday, April 14, for World Cultures Fest. Students from Dr. Diaz-Gomez's and Dr. Castillo Scott's SPAN 1002 classes, Dr. Fraunhofer's Francophone Drama class and the Georgia College & State University Spanish Club will offer an exciting variety of cultural presentations throughout the day. The schedule includes:
12 - 1 p.m.: SPAN 1002 poster presentations of various celebrations in 16 Hispanic countries around the world, including traditional food and drink, music, masks, etc.
4 - 5 p.m.: Spanish Club demonstration of traditional snacks and beverages from around the Hispanic world such as Colombian Obleas and Esquites (Mexican corn), including recipes in both Spanish and English
5 - 6 p.m.: Encore SPAN 1002 poster presentation session
6 - 6:15 p.m.: Francophone Drama student presentation of a scene from Aimé Césaire's "Une Tempête," including an introduction in English
Everyone is welcome, regardless of language background. Students currently enrolled in WLC courses can earn Intercultural Event credit (pending course instructor approval).
