GCSU Choral Ensembles Fall Concert

GCSU Choral Ensembles Fall Concert

Saturday, Oct. 17 - In recognition of the 250th anniversary of the United States of America, the Georgia College & State University Department of Music presents An American Choral Mosaic on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. in Russell Auditorium. The concert features the Women’s Ensemble, Max Noah Singers, and University Chorus.

The program pays homage to American composers and the musical genres and styles that have shaped the nation’s choral heritage. Like the individual pieces of a mosaic, the selections represent distinct historical periods, traditions, and cultural perspectives—sacred and secular, reflective and exuberant, traditional and contemporary.

The program honors American composers—including William Billings, Amy Beach, Duke Ellington, and Aaron Copland—and diverse musical traditions, opening with the Revolutionary War-era “Chester” and culminating in a combined performance of the Civil War-era “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”

A $5 donation is encouraged.  Online donations can be made at give.gcsu.edu/g/department-of-music/.   Proceeds benefit music scholarships and the Department of Music through the GCSU Foundation, Inc. The concert will also be livestreamed at youtube.com/@gcsumusicdept.
