Apply for the Connecting What Matters Award
Apply for the Connecting What Matters Award
One class, one conversation or one professor. Sometimes that's all it takes to change the way you see the world.
The Connecting What Matters Award invites all eligible Georgia College & State University undergraduates to share their story. In a short essay (750 words or fewer), tell us about a transformative learning experience with a College of Arts & Sciences faculty member — one that challenged your thinking, broadened your perspective or shaped your personal growth.
The winning student receives a cash award, and the faculty member featured in the essay receives a professional development award in recognition of their impact on your learning.
Eligibility and Essay Requirements:
- Current GCSU undergraduates with 30+ earned credit hours
- One essay submission per student, per award year
- Essay must be original (not AI-generated)
The deadline to apply is Sept. 18, 2026. The winner will be selected by the College of Arts & Sciences Scholarship and Awards Committee and announced by mid-October.
If a faculty member has left a lasting mark on your education, this is your chance to say so, and be recognized for it. The application window is open now.
