Department of World Languages & Cultures presents 'Ingredients from the Hispanic World'

The Department of World Languages & Cultures invites the GCSU community to learn about Spanish-speaking cultures at the exhibition "Ingredients from the Hispanic World," an exploration into the food we eat, its history and cultural significance.

Coinciding with Hispanic Heritage month, students in Intro to Spanish Language & Culture II will present research posters about Latin American and Spanish ingredients, their history, related recipes and the celebrations, traditions and festivities where they are used. Sixteen Spanish-speaking countries will be represented, and posters will be presented in Spanish and English from 5-6 p.m.. The entire GCSU community is welcome to stop by regardless of language skills.

During the Spanish poster presentations, students will showcase their findings and will have the chance to interact with other students, faculty or staff learning the language.

Then, at 6 p.m., GCSU Spanish Club will host a Jeopardy game focused on Hispanic cultures. Snacks and refreshments will be served.

Students in the Department of World Languages & Cultures are required to attend two cultural events per semester, and both events will count toward students’ cultural credit. Still, the poster exhibition and Spanish Club event are open to anyone interested in learning about the many different cultures on display.
