More Than Meets the Ear: Music therapy in a Baldwin County K-2 special education class

This Faculty Spotlight presentation will provide an inside look at music therapy in a K–2 special education classroom through a case study approach. The presentation will demonstrate how evidence-based music therapy interventions are selected and implemented to address individualized goals related to social skills, executive functioning, receptive language, communication and emotional regulation. Through practical examples from clinical sessions, university colleagues will gain insight into the intentional, goal-directed nature of music therapy and how music-based interventions can support the developmental, educational and social-emotional needs of young learners with exceptionalities.
