'Cry It Out' - Presented by The Department of Theatre & Dance

Directed by Jeremy Lee Cudd, "Cry It Out" is a comedic and poignant play about new motherhood from Molly Smith Metzler, the writer/creator of the two Netflix series, "Maid" and "Sirens." Set in suburban Long Island, "Cry It Out" begins with two women on maternity leave, starved for conversation, meeting for coffee in the backyard in the overlap between the wireless signals on their baby monitors. Jessie, a former corporate lawyer, and Lina, a hospital receptionist, bond over the challenges of raising infants, sleep training and returning to work. When a stranger who lives in the mansion up on the cliff appears in the yard asking if they would include his wife in their afternoon coffee date, the duo reluctantly tries to become a trio. "Cry It Out" takes an honest look at the absurdities of being home with a baby, the power of female friendship and the economic realities that complicate parenthood in America.
