The National Weather Service Peachtree City predicts showers and thunderstorms will sweep across the area during the day Tuesday, January 9. Some storms may be strong to severe, particularly south of a Columbus to Eatonton line. Severe thunderstorms that develop will be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and a few tornadoes.

The GCSU campus will have a delayed opening Tuesday morning, January 9 with normal operations resuming at noon Tuesday. All classes and campus events that begin before noon are cancelled.

IT Alert: Network Issues

Submitted by kristen.simpso… on

IT is experiencing an issue with one of our network routers, causing both wired and wireless outages in some places across campus. We are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. As an interim step, we are working to bypass one of our primary server rooms. While this might bring all services back up, you may experience a bit slower network speeds than usual. We will provide updates through both Unify and MyGCSU

We appreciate your patience as we work to get our network fully restored.

Wireless Campus Network Maintenance Update

Submitted by margaret.schel… on

Network Services will perform wireless network maintenance tonight at 12 midnight EST and lasting until approximately 2 a.m. Please note that this will only impact the campus wireless network, not the wired computers (computer labs, classrooms or publicly accessible machines) or ResNet wireless. There will be intermittent service disruptions of the wireless networks during this time.

Weather Warn Notification System Malfunction

Submitted by joshua.smith4@… on

During today’s weekly test of the Weather Warn notification system, our campus siren signal failed to function properly. We are troubleshooting the issue and will disseminate an updated status message on or before the afternoon of Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023. As further system tests are conducted, it is possible that an audible siren and test message announcement may be heard this week.

Fire Alarm Monitoring System Alert

Submitted by joshua.smith4@… on

Our fire alarm monitoring system in Public Safety has experienced loss of fiber connectivity. Troubleshooting is in progress, and we hope to restore service soon.  In the meantime, please contact Public Safety at 445-4400 in the event of an audible alarm.  Please note that all fire alarm and suppression systems continue to be operational and protection remains unaffected. However, we will be relying on manual dispatch pending restoration of connectivity.
